Stories aren’t written about men like William Langhorne, the brother of John Langhorne, a poet from England who transcribed Plutarch. and gave us this quote:
“I assure you I had rather be the first man here than the second man in Rome”
PLUTARCH ((1836), p. 499)
Passing through the the high Alps, Julius Caesar said that he care what happened in Rome, so long as he was first in this ordinary village. Sentiments Donald Trump is playing on, for sure, but the sentiments are echoed with lots of politicians, take Hillary Clinton’s famous, "I came. I saw. I conquered."
She didn’t actually say that, of course.
But the feeling was there; the quote was from Caesar also.
Maybe the reason why it appears politics are unstable may ultimately wind up being Trump is popular with the people. A hell of a lot more than the news business or other governmental complexes would like to admit, and no amount of sandbox media is going to ever know.
